I remember having my darkroom when I was younger and thought developing photos was the best. Little did I imagine that one day all this would be done on a computer with high-end intelligent software and hardware. Even though I've seen the transition from film and paper developing to digital image editing, It's still photography. What today's digital world offers us is a more precise way of working and getting instant results. It also allows us to expand our creativity without having to worry about mixing chemicals right or how long to expose our negatives. We see first hand from the LCD screen on the digital camera to our computer. Having the right setup can make all the difference in the world on how you will be viewing and editing your photographs. Knowledge is the key. With the help of online tutorials, podcasts, videos, etc., a person can gain a world of knowledge. Remember, that this medium is ever-changing, so keeping up is a necessity.
I have two main computer systems for doing my work. One is a PC with Windows XP, 2 gigabytes of RAM, 600 gigabytes of hard drive storage, a 20 inch Sylvania flat panel monitor. My other system is an Apple Macintosh Powerbook G4 with 2 gigabytes of RAM with 600 gigabytes of hard drive storage and a LG 20 inch flat panel monitor for dual screen. My My software includes:
Additional hardware includes a 48 Bit Microtek Color scanner. I also have various flash memory drives, flash card readers, and a few other items necessary in preparation for my photo editing. As I said before, computer systems are ever changing, whether the Mac or PC, you haven't seen the future of digital photography yet.
